Scientists at the Technical University of Munich and engineers at Audi AG developed the Avatar-based Virtual Co-driver System or AviCoS. This new system comes standard in all new Audi models. AviCoS will be able to interpret questions asked by the vehicle occupants, answering in spoken language. The driver can view descriptive images or videos on-screen and the avatar points to the relevant areas during the explanation.AviCoS also is a multitouch interface. If a driver don’t know a specific control element, with a simple touch avatar begin to work and will give you all useful information that you need. According to Professor Helmut Krcmar, Chair of the TU Munich Institute of Business Informatics this is a tool to explain control elements in an quick and easy, hands-on way. It is particularly useful in unfamiliar vehicles.
