Robots bartenders are not novelty, but attitudes towards them a little cool. [ad#Google Adsense-3 11]To awaken to them interest, researchers from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in cooperation with Coca-Cola and Bacardi Rum developed Makr Shakr. Makr Shakr is the robot specializing on mixing of drinks, which debuted at annual conference of the Google developers in San Francisco as the first-ever controlled robot bartender. It uses three hands and programmable system of mixing. Working "hand in hand", they do drinks and distribute them with help of a set of conveyer belts. The user orders drinks by the appendix in the smartphone, but it not simply choice from in advance defined list. The robot bartender uses the Coca-Cola Freestyle technology for mixing of drinks, which can create more than hundred various mixes. Using the appendix, users can order the alcoholic and soft drinks complete with suitable ornament, which will mix up by means of standard shakers with use of specially developed manipulators.

The post Debut of the first robot bartender appeared first on Latest Science Space Hi-Tech news.

The Internet giant Amazon develops the touch screen smartphone with the unusual interface using the three-dimensional display and technology of tracking eyes of the user. Images formed by the display have to soar over a display surface due to effect of the hologram. HTC and LG already made attempts to put on the market smartphones with the three-dimensional display, but they didn't enjoy wide popularity because of need of creation of specific photos and video movies. The LG and Samsung companies in the latest smartphones also realized technology of tracking eyes of the user. It allows delivering to video on a pause in case the owner of the smartphone doesn't look at the screen at present.

Microsoft confirmed Windows Blue screen existence — large updating for the Windows 8 operating system, about which earlier arrived information from informal sources. About updating told Tami Reller in the official blog of Windows. By the experts of Windows, the updating leaves in 2013 and that Blue screen is its code name. Blue becomes continuation of Windows 8, but will contain also innovations. First, with an exit of updating the list of devices for "eight" will extend and there will be devices of "new form factors". Secondly, in Blue there will be the functions added at requests of users of Windows 8. About which functions there is a speech, it isn't specified yet. Microsoft will issue the "small", seven-inch version of a tablet of Surface on the basis of Blue, and will finish the Windows interface, having given it look more habitual for users. In particular, one of early assemblies Blue screen, which has got to the Internet, gave a reason to assume that the company will return the Start-up button, which isn't present in Windows 8 to OS, and will allow users to pass when loading system the starting screen with "live tiles". Windows 8 left in October, 2012.

The post Existence of Windows Blue screen was confirmed officially appeared first on Latest Science Space Hi-Tech news.

The designer of Danielle Trofe designed unusual sand LED lamps. Could you think that the lamp can work from sand, is truer than the energy created at oversleeping of sand? Remember the well-known hourglasses, which were quite often used earlier, for example, in physioprocedural offices of hospitals, and also it are frequent and at schools during laboratory works on chemistry or physics. The designer from Brooklyn created LED lamps on the basis of usual hourglasses. The lamp is shining while sand pours. With this creation, the author wanted to show that alternative energy sources can be the most various and not less effective, than traditional power sources. In order that the hourglass lamp continued to shine, it needs to be turned.

The post LED lamps based on the hourglass appeared first on Latest Science Space Hi-Tech news.

The group of researchers from the Harvard school of engineering work over some kind of record, they create the smallest flying robot in the world. And years later of works experts presented on public court video presentation of the creation under the name RoboBee. Already judging by only the name it is clear that bees became a prototype of these thrones. The size of these flying robots hardly exceeds the size of a coin. Each of such mini-robots is equipped with two membrane formed wings, which are capable to carry out 120 waves a second and to fly, however for the present at quite low speed. Tiny flying thrones are equipped with also piezoelectric elements, which help robots to fly. Big robots can be operated be electromagnetic motors, but for small thrones it is necessary to look for alternative. According to the founders of the robot, the achievement became possible only thanks to successes in creation of new materials, production technologies and designs. Certainly, considering the flying robot sizes, at once thoughts come to mind that the robot will be used first of all as the spy.

The post The Harvard robotics created the world’s smallest flying robot appeared first on Latest Science Space Hi-Tech news.

Engineers of Massachusetts Institute of Technology developed the flexible pneumatic robot moving at the expense of bends of "body", like a snake. The snake robot consists of four independently moving segments. On the opposite sides of the segments are located the air cameras, which are created from elastic polymer and are capable to increase considerably in a size at a rating. Air supply in cameras is carried out with help of the valves located on a joint of segments. Process of movement of the device operates the built-in microcomputer. The maximum speed of the snake robots makes only 19 millimeters a second. In the future authors of development plan to increase this speed at the expense of a covering of inflatable cameras scales from which the robot will be able to make a start. In that case the mechanical supports, which are present at a prototype, become unnecessary. The snake robot is not the first prototype of the moving inflatable device.

The post Snake robot ACM-R appeared first on Latest Science Space Hi-Tech news.

According to pessimistic forecasts, in the future the mankind will be enslaved by robots. Just today the Rethink Robotics Company announced the new Baxter Research Robot. This is robot with two manipulators, which received humanoid configuration. It is the humanoid robot of the new generation with expanded opportunities of its use. It is useful practically in any field of activity of the person. Such flexibility of the Baxter Research Robot is caused, first, by two well worked manipulators hands, secondly, very competent software. On the humanoid robot there is standard Robot Operating System OS, but in the package of delivery is included a special set for software developers, it is SDK. Exactly thanks to it developers can create from Baxter Research Robot of the waiter, the housekeeper, the loader and so on. By one word, it is really universal assistant.

The post New generation of the humanoid robot Baxter Research appeared first on Latest Science Space Hi-Tech news.

The engineers created the wide-angle digital camera with a super wide point of view, having copied structure of eyes of insects, having relieved pictures of distortions at the edges of the image. According to the scientists the most important and revolutionary part of this camera is bent electronics on a convex surface. Practically all electronic devices are made of silicon, and silicon is very fragile, that doesn't allow to bend it as we want. Thanks to special "stretching" conductors, the scientists could bend system and place it on a convex surface.

Creating the wide-angle digital camera the scientists were guided by the device of eyes of insects. So, visual bodies of insects consist of a set of the elements, which number can reach up to 20 thousand. Each such facet represents a separate organ of vision with own lens and photoreceptors. The similar device of eyes gives to arthropods improbably big point of view, ultrahigh sensitivity to movement and the infinite depth of sight.

For a long time the scientists try to create analog of a facet eye, however its "copying" always faces a problem of fragility of its components. Scientists from university of the State of Colorado in Bouldera bypassed this obstacle, having pasted lenses on stretching plastic and having connected photosensitive matrixes with help of the conductors braided in a snake.

The post Eyes of insects helped scientists to create the ideal wide-angle digital camera appeared first on Latest Science Space Hi-Tech news.

The BotObjects company created not simply the first the 3D ProDesk3D printer with full of color, but thanks to the anodized aluminum case, undoubtedly, it is one of the most beautiful. The purpose of the company was to think of how full of color 3D printers can look in 5 years to draw a line between ProDesk3D and its "contemporaries". For the color printing, it uses system of the cartridges filled with polystyrene latex, capable to mix five basic flowers. As botObjects describes itself as the company according to the software and understands all problems connected with its installation, ProDesk3D works "directly from a box": simply connect it to a network, it will be established automatically.

The post BotObjects presented the first full-color 3D printers appeared first on Latest Science Space Hi-Tech news.

The new class of electronic device, so-called "morph" - the devices capable independently to change a form, was presented on IT conference CHI-2013 in Paris. The British scientists created a new prototype electronic equipment, so-called "morphs" — the devices capable independently to change a form at change of lighting, start of a certain program or under other conditions, and presented some such devices to the world on IT conference CHI-2013 in Paris. According to the scientists they took a step to that all mobile gadgets will change the form, when it is required to user. Imagine — the user downloaded game on the mobile phone, and after its start it will turn into the game console. Besides, such phone can turn into a ball, or will be bent while the user enters the password. The scientists created "morph", experimenting nanowires from alloys with effect of memory and the polymers, capable to be reduced under the influence of current. Physicists learned to turn simple designs from several slices of an alloy or polymer into superflexible surfaces, using so-called NURBS curves. They represent the special mathematical tool, allowing to set a curve practically any formwith help of a combination from several reference points. Nanowires acted as real similarity of such curves from alloys with effect of memory. These wires were united in the "grid", which each cell represented an independent element.

The post Morph is the prototype of future electronic device appeared first on Latest Science Space Hi-Tech news.

Certainly, the most various robots do a lot of useful work for human: from research of Mars up to imitation of movement of sea turtles, but when last time you communicated with one of them?

Developed by artist Alexander Reben and director Brent Hoff, BlabDroid is the human robot partner, which was used on Traybek's film festival to draw out visitors and openly to talk about things about which they wouldn't admit to other person. It appeared so successful idea that the small cardboard robot came under the spotlight the Kickstarter project, wishing to send the robot to a mass production. BlabDroid uses the known computer program called "Elisa's effect". In 1966 the scientist from Massachusetts Institute of Technology Joseph Veytsenbaum noticed that human treat the chatbot, which he wrote, having called ELIZA as though he was the real person. Elisa has very simple algorithm, which is connected with a database of keywords and the programmed answers, which simply reformulates told it or uses indistinct assumptions. BlabDroid appears at people as the lovely small robot with a voice of the seven-year-old boy. It asks private questions, for example, "What is the worst thing, which you have done to someone?" or "Whom do you love above all?” When 20 robots were begin to go freely by Traybek's festival in New York, they caused inspiring intelligent interactions, from which the documentary film will be shot.

The post BlabDroid robots want to communicate with human appeared first on Latest Science Space Hi-Tech news.
