Researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology recently created snake-like robot capable of swimming through granular material. For creating this robot researches conducted a detailed analysis of sandfish lizard, that escapes from predators by diving at the sand’s surface. The snake-like robot is constructed of seven connected segments,which each other powered by a servo motor. Segments are encased in a latex sock and then wrapped in spandex. Researchers hope that their snake-like robot’s future version potentially could use during earthquakes for find people under the ruins, and it can aslo be useful in applications relating to space exploration.
