A team of astronomers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the University of British Columbia (UBC), the Harvard-Smithsonian Centre for Astrophysics and the University of California at Santa Cruz (UCSC) using Canadian space telescope MOST (Microvariability & Oscillations of Stars) has found a new exoplanet. This is called 55 Cancri e. It’s 60% larger than Earth and has eight times the mass of our planet. Planet’s surface temperature is 2,700 degrees Celsius, and according to this data this planet has no atmosphere,so there can’t be life.Approximately 40 light years from Earth, 55 Cancri e orbits a star called 55 Cancri A so closely that its year is less than 18 hours long. 55 Cancri e has the highest density of all known planets.
