Philippine Inventor Created Flying Car and Tested It

A Philippine inventor has revealed flying car (an electric manned aerial vehicle EMAV).  He calls his masterpiece as flying sports car that represents the future of transport. It is riding out of a warehouse toward a cheering crowd, leaving a cloud of dust in his wake. The flight has been realized in Batangas City on September 23, 2018.

Kyxz Mendiola is a former dancer and camera operator, after his flight he said “It was amazing, all the hard work paid off. Everything worked perfect.”He flew and hovered for a few minutes in a single-passenger contraption powered by the “multicopter” technology commonly used in small unmanned drones.

Kyxz Mendiola’s machine can fly as high as 6.1 m (20 ft) and speed up to 60 kph (37 mph) but its maiden flight lasted just a little over 10 minutes.

The flying car, Koncepto Milenya, or simply Milenya, is a single-seater vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft. Milenya is reinforced by a metal frame covered with carbon fiber shell.  As of September 2018, the aircraft can carry a payload of 80 to 100 kilograms (180 to 220 lb) and can fly at 50 to 60 kilometers per hour (31 to 37 mph). It is powered by six lithium-ion batteries, taking around two and a half hours to charge completely.

The vehicle is controllable by its lone passenger through a portable radio frequency controller; the vehicle controls its altitude through a button while it can maneuver through a steering stick. Devising “multicopter” technology frequently used in drones.

“Press a button and it will go up, then push the stick forward, it goes forward. It’s very smart, that’s why I’m saying it has a lot of potential,” Mendiola said. “When we have to go somewhere about an hour’s drive, this can take you there in five minutes,” he added.
