Car for the Blind Man

Since 2010, the Company Since 2010, the Company Virginia Tech are developing a car that could manage the blind man. Driving will be done by the blind, and will not be sold to any external devices, as is sometimes suggested by other developers. In developing the model of the car was planned that the management is divided into three stages, receiving information on the surrounding environ ment by car, computer processing and transfering it to the driver to non-visual ways. Information about the surrounding environment of the car collected by using GPS-navigation, sensors, lasers, cameras and other systems.

The most difficult step is the creation and transmission of information. Developers    of  Virginia   Tech   are  given  the  preference  to  the gloves  DriveGrip,  that specifically designed for people who are blind, that through the tactile signals send the instructions to driver. In addition, also presented a special driver’s seat SpeedTrip, which is capable of transmitting signals to driver about typed speed of the car through the vibration.
