Smart E-Book Interface Prototype on an iPad

A new gesture based multi-touch E-Book concept designed by the KAIST Institute of Information Technology Convergence has been demonstrated on Apple’s iPad. The new system has been designed to provide a more natural way of looking through any book. Including multiple page turning using multiple fingers together with faster swipes which turned more than one page at once. Enabling you to quickly advance or move backwards through the pages of your E-Book. The prototype is implemented on an Apple iPad but reportedly uses private Apple APIs, according to the video description, and it incorporated several gestures that one might use when reading a physical book, such as:

  • Page Flipping with finger bookmarking
  • Multiple page turning using multiple fingers
  • Faster swipes turning multiple page
  • Longer presses, then swiping can turn multiple pages
  • Writing the page number
