Ford created a new exclusive technology, called Feel the View, that gives a chance to the blind passengers to feel outside the view from cars. Everyone wants to enjoy and feel the view from the cars’ windows especially when it is a sight of nature and the blind people is not an exception. Feel the View is a wonderful device that makes them see the life with new colors.
How Does It Work?
A camera attaches to the car’s window and the built-in camera takes pictures of the view. And then those pictures are converted into a grey scale image. Each shade of grey is transformed into a vibration of different intensity on the car window allowing people to experience surrounding landscape. Also, there is an integrated vocal assistant connected to the car’s audio system by an online AI that helps them to put the image into context. The concept combines an image recognition system that says aloud what is outside the car through its built-in speakers. For instance, it will tell passengers when they’re passing a mountain, a forest or an open field.
Feel The View was conceived and developed by Ford’s team in Italy and GTB Roma, in collaboration with Aedo – a local start-up that specialises in devices for the visually impaired.
Ford Italy spokesman Marco Alù Saffi says!
“We seek to make people’s lives better and this was a fantastic opportunity to help blind passengers experience a great aspect of driving. The technology is advanced, but the concept is simple – and could turn mundane journeys into truly memorable ones.”
According to several reports, there is no clear information on when this technology Feel the View will be made available, and whether it will come as a standard option when purchasing a new Ford car. So, to know more detailed about this new technology, you may watch the video below!
