Optical Disk With Capacity of 500GB

General Electric announced the creation of an optical disk which is able to record 500GB of data on disk, whose dimensions don’t exceed the DVD, about the same speed as the Blue Ray. Information on this disk can store hundreds of years, of course if you follow the ideal storage conditions. The technology is that on physical carrier from polycarbonate are applied millions of tiny holographic images, and then a laser is used to erase some of the hologram, such a way, encoding information. Recording speed of 4-5 megabytes per second, comparable to the Blue Ray 4.5 megabytes per second. This technology lets you use the entire surface of the disk. The potential disk drives will have backward compatibility, minimizing the risk of developers and end users.
