The Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) the government-backed research institute in South Korea in March 2011, unveiled a completely new version of ETRO. ETRO is reading robot. This humanoid robot is powered by the Linux . The robot has a single camera located on its chest. It contains embedded boards built specifically for image recognition, speech recognition, and speech synthesis, commissioned from a supplier called WithRobot. Should you hold a book or document in front of it, it will use the integrated text-to-speech synthesizer to read aloud what is pasted in front, and you can even use voice commands to have it perform simple operations, including retrieving traffic or weather related news over an Internet connection.
