Team of students from Suinbernskogo University of Technology have developed a robot named Ruby that could solve the Rubik’s cube. The machine is able to solve the 3x3x3 Rubik’s Cube in 10.69 seconds. Recorded time includes the time it takes the machine to scan the cube before the decision. The robot uses a Web camera to scan each face of the cube and come up with a solution with the help of specially developed software algorithm.Ruby is a blend of fast computer vision software algorithm and control system which ensures high precision movements, according to Physorg. It would be interesting to note that the previous record was set on the robot, called Cubinator. The latter managed to solve the Rubik’s Cube in 18.2 seconds.
The official record for solving of the Rubik’s Cube in humans is a Zimdegs Felix, who show the time in 6.24 seconds on Kubaroo Open 2011.
