Festo, one of the world’s leading companies that supply pneumatic and electric automation technology group, recently unveiled his latest invention – robotic seagull and its natural inspiration. Device weighs 450 grams and has a wingspan of 1,96 m. Festo engineers decided to call his creation SmartBird. Bird-robot operates autonomously, being able to take off, fly and land itself.

Festo representatives reported that in the process of creating a robot they have managed to develop a model of the flight of birds. It would be interesting to note that the wings SmartBird not only move up and down, but they can also turn to a certain angle.
