Hurricane Irene Continues Its Course to The East Coast of USA

Hurricane Irene, approaching the east coast of the USA, weakened to the second category on the Saffir-Simpson scale. According to U.S. National Hurricane Center Irene is located about 675 km from Cape Hatteras in North Carolina and moved to the north at a speed of 22 km/h., carrying maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers an hour, making it a category three storm on a five-point scale measuring a storm’s intensity and potential destructive power. It is only 3 km less than the speed of the third category of hurricanes.
