Engineers of the Massachusetts technological university developed the system founded on [ad name=”Google Adsense-3″]nanoparticles with help of which it is possible to switch off and include blood clotting by light of lasers reversibly. The principle of work of system is based on release in due time substances, either blocking, or restoring work of one of factors of blood clotting — thrombin. Each of two substances was attached to cylindrical gold nanoparticles of one of two types – short and long. Radiation by the high-frequency laser led to release of the substance attached to short nanoparticles, but didn’t influence that was recorded on long and vice versa. As a blocker scientists used a special aptamer – the artificial fragment of DNA which has been selected on force of affinity to this factor of blood clotting .
Contacting thrombin, the aptamer didn’t allow it to start formation of blood clots. As an anti-pillbox scientists used complementary DNA. Under its action the aptamer turned into usual two-chained DNA and released thrombin. As a result, scientists received system which within transparency of fabric can raise or lower controllably blood rollability. Earlier physicians besides injections of the general inhibitors of blood clotting had no opportunities to supervise this process. Classical inhibitors work not locally, and are system, and, besides, can’t be at the right time switched off with help of anti-pillboxes. The new system, according to authors to allow to supervise turning both in space, and in time.
