The Curiosity rover, which is designed to explore Mars, has found an ancient oasis on Mars. Researchers working with the Curiosity rover have found salt-enriched…
Scientist were waiting to this special moment about many years. Continuously for several months astronomers are planning to focus on their telescopes to Sagittarius A*, the Supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy. A Star is cycling by closely orbiting star, which is probably considering that it is testing Einstein’s theory of general relativity. S-02 Star, which is the name of this star, closely orbits Sagittarius A*. However, S-02 is unique because it is one of the two stars that zoom in the closest to the supermassive black hole in its elliptical orbit, that is to say it is likely to show the effects and results of black hole’s enormous gravitational pull. According to Einstein’s Theory “General relativity generalizes special relativity and Newton’s law of universal gravitation, providing a unified description of gravity as a geometric property of space and time, or spacetime”. Researchers with the UCLS’s Galactic Center Group will follow to see the changes that takes place, and when they do, they will again approve Einstein’s theory of general relativity once again. According to the study, where researchers conducted the first spectroscopic analysis on S0-2 as a potential binary, it is likely just one star; about 15 times the mass of the Sun. Tuan Do, deputy director of the Galactic Center Group, said “It will be the first measurement of its kind”, “Gravity is the least well-tested of the forces of nature. Einstein’s theory has passed all other tests with flying colors so far, so if there are deviations measured; it would certainly raise lots of questions about the nature of gravity!”
As indicates lead author Devin Chu they had been waiting 16 years for this occasion, they were very interested to see how the star would behave under black hole’s violent pull, and whether S0-2 star will follow Einstein’s theory or the star will defy their current laws of physics. They promised to find out, so we are supposed to wait and see what scientists will prove.
