How the Mysterious Dark Sunspots Form

The researchers used the Swedish 1-meter Solar Telescop for study dark sunspots. Sunspots are blotches on the sun that appear dark because they are cooler than the rest of the solar surface. So with the help this study researchers found dark downflows of more than 2,200 miles per hour (3,600 kph) and bright upflows of more than 6,600 miles per hour (10,800 kph). The studies show that columns of hot gas rise up from the interior of the sunspot, widen, cool and then sink down while quickly flowing outside.Researchers hope that in the future that can also measure the magnetic fields, which related with these flows.
