The near upcoming astronomical event will be Full Worm Moon which is going to happen on March 20. But we would like to mention that this full moon is going to be a supermoon. The March full Moon is also special because it reaches its peak on the same day as the spring equinox, on March 20, 2019.
- Full Pink Moon – April 19
One of the next upcoming full moons will occur on April 19. April’s full Moon is called the Full Pink Moon, heralding the appearance of the “moss pink,” or wild ground phlox—one of the first spring flowers. There are other names include Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon, and the Fish Moon.
- Full Flower Moon – May 18
Here is the answer of why it is called the Full Flower Moon. According to www.almanac.com “We use full Moon names that were used during Native American and Colonial times to help track the seasons—usually from the Algonquin tribes who lives in the same areas. Depending on the tribe, May’s full Moon was called the Full Flower Moon as well as Mother’s Moon, Milk Moon, and Corn Planting Moon. The May full Moon marked a time of increasing fertility, with temperatures warm enough for safely bearing young, a near end to late frosts, and plants in bloom”.
- Full Strawberry Moon – June 17
In June we will witness a Supermoon that is called Full Strawberry Moon. This Full Moon got its beautiful name from the Algonquin tribes who knew it as a signal to gather the ripening fruit of wild strawberries. It has also been known as the Honey Moon, Mead Moon, and the Full Rose Moon in Europe.
- Full Buck Moon – July 2, July 31
July 2019 is special because it will have two new Moons: the first rises on July 2 and the second on July 31. July is the month of the Full Buck Moon. This Full Moon was also known as the Thunder Moon because thunderstorms are so common during this month.
