Apple confirms using Google Cloud

Apple Confirms Using Google Cloud for iCloud Services

Apple updated a document on its websites last month to indicate that Apple is now using the Google Cloud for iCloud services. Earlier Apple had used remote data storage systems provided by Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure. Apple’s edition of the iOS Security Guide in March 2017 still listed Microsoft Azure instead of Google Cloud Platform. Some media outlets reported on Google’s iCloud win in 2016, but Apple never provided confirmation. Data stored on Google may contain contacts, calendars, photos, videos, documents and more, but Apple obsessed with the idea that Google has no means of accessing that data. The most recent update doesn’t point out whether Apple is using any Google cloud services other than core storage of “objects” like photos and videos. It is also unclear when Apple launched storing data in Google’s cloud. Microsoft declined to comment. Apple didn’t reply to a request for comment.

The notch which cuts into the top side of the display to make room for Face ID camera components, the speaker, and the new selfie camera will be found on all new models this coming September. And of course, that means no new iPhones will have a Touch ID fingerprint sensor.
