According to UK Ministry of Defense British Forces in Afghanistan received miniature spy drone, 16 gram helicopter Black Hornet Nano up to 10 centimeters in length and two and a half in width. Black Hornet Nano is equipped with a miniature camera that can transmit both video and photos. Despite its compact size Black Hornet Nano is capable of operating in critical weather conditions. According to BBC News, the device is equipped with a battery and can cover up to 800 feet in the air or up to 30 minutes. As reported BBC News, in the total of the British military Department has ordered 160 Black Hornet Nano to 20 million pounds sterling (31,5 million dollars). Using the helicopters in Afghanistan began in 2012.

This asteroid has an irregular form, and belongs to the category of Apollo. Asteroid Toutatis has diameter 5.4 kilometers, and the rotation period is 176 hours. At the closest distance the asteroid approached the Earth in 2004. This year, the asteroid must pass by our planet at a distance of 6.9 million kilometers from Earth.

Cornell University and the University of Chicago have developed a new robotic arm that works in much the same way as many others we’ve seen, but with a twist. Unlike most robotic arms we’ve seen which emulate a human hand, the researchers have created what they call the “simple passive universal gripper.” This uses a membrane filled with a mass of granular material (like a balloon filled with sand) connected to an air compressor and vacuum. To pick up an object, the balloon pushes down on it and then the vacuum kicks in, causing the balloon to harden and grip the object. To throw the item, the process is reversed, with a compressor quickly pumping air into the membrane to project the grabbed object at speed.
