Though, the American Geophysical Union reported that the spacecraft Voyager 1 was outside the heliosphere, but the NASA don’t agree with this report. By the words of team of Voyager 1, the spacecraft has not left the solar system yet, or it reached to interstellar space. The AGU, did the measurement at AUG. 25. These measurements showed radical changes, which meant that the spacecraft had left the solar system, or the huge magnetic bubble including our solar system, and the entire magnetic field. There is some disagreement between the astronomer Bill Webber (professor from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces) and the Voyager project scientist Ed Stone regarding the location of Voyager 1. Bill Webber explained, that during a few days decreased the intensity of heliospheric radiation, and the cosmic ray intensity went up. But Ed Stone explained that the spacecraft had reached to a new region, named “the magnetic highway”, where changed the energetic particles.
Astronomers from Observatory “Gemini” received the most detailed to date image of the unusual galaxy NGC 660, relating to a rare class of polar galaxies. The galaxy NGC 660 is located at a distance of 40 million light years from Earth near the constellation Pisces. It is as if two separate star clusters: the spiral and lenticular. Such galaxies are called polar – they rotate the outer ring over the poles of the internal cluster. In addition, NGC 660 is the only other known polar galaxies in which the center has an old lenticular congestion. All polar galaxies are a result of the interaction of two separate star clusters. Some of them can be formed by the collision of two galaxies formed (for example, a galaxy can be formed by a merger in the future, with the Milky Way Andromeda).
Two small asteroids zipped close by Earth on March 26 2012, passing between our planet and the orbit of the moon. As said Nasa scientists this two asteroids not pose any threat of impacting our world. The two space rocks flew by Earth in rapid fire. According to astronomers with NASA’s Asteroid Watch program, one asteroid zoomed by early in the day while the second buzzed the planet at 1:09 p.m. EDT (1709 GMT).
An amateur astronomer Wayne Jaeschke has managed to capture recent images of Mars which appear to show cloud like formations on Mars. The image was taken on March 22, 2012. Wayne Jaeschke, from West Chester, Pennsylvania, first noticed the formations which can be seen rising up from the edge of the Martian disk after he took the pictures on March 20. Some observers have suggested the so-called clouds are at least 150 miles away from the surface while others have suggested it could be debris which was disturbed after the Red Planet was hit by a meteor.
Below are top 10 scientific stories of 2011.Israeli company has reported about the invention on a new vaccine for cancer. Vaccine which can also be used as a drug to cure the diseased person is called Vaxil. A rare half-male and half-female butterfly has emerged at the Natural History Museum’s Sensational Butterflies exhibition. In November 2011, reports have indicated that unique specie of lobster – a blue European lobster – was found in the fish market of Billingsgate, London. The European lobster is very similar to the American lobster, Homarus americanus, but it appears smaller and less aggressive. It can live to over 15 years in the wild but their rarely reach that age to do being heavily fished.
Astronomers have reported about the newfound alien planet which is only 1.6 times bigger than the planet Earth.
