In frames of NASAs’ mission of European Space Agency (ESA), the astronomers found some youngest stars in the Orion Molecular Cloud Complex . These stars were discovered by some astronomers from different observatories from Sweden and Germany. These astronomers collaborated in the European Space Agency (ESA) mission for understanding the formation of new stars. The discovery gives the chance to scientists to understand the formation of the star. The star comes to life from the gravitational collapse of gas and dust clouds. Finding the protostars in the earliest time, poses a challenge. For a long time the astronomers had observed the Orion Molecular Cloud Complex, but had not found any new forming star, until the Herschel telescope observed the region. Herschel found the protostars by infrared, long-wavelength light, which can shine through the clouds.
NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope new image shows NGC 7026, a planetary nebula. Located just beyond the tip of the tail of the constellation of Cygnus (The Swan), this butterfly-shaped cloud of glowing gas and dust is the wreckage of a star similar to the Sun. Planetary nebulae, despite their name, have nothing to do with planets. They are in fact a relatively short-lived phenomenon that occurs at the end of the life of mid-sized stars.
The NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope turned its powerful wide field Advanced Camera for Surveys towards NGC 891 spiral galaxy and took this close-up of its northern half. The galaxy’s central bulge is just out of the image on the bottom left. NGC 891 (also known as Caldwell 23) is a spiral galaxy about 30 million light-years away in the constellation Andromeda. It was discovered by William Herschel on October 6 1784.
The European Space Agency declared the death of its massive Earth-observing satellite Envisat on May 9 after a month of mysterious silence from the school bus-size spacecraft. Envisat is the world’s largest Earth-watching satellite for civilian use, with ESA officials touting its 10th anniversary in space earlier this year. The $2.9 billion satellite was originally designed to snap high-resolution photos of Earth for five years, but managed to last 10 years during its successful mission.

The European Space Agency’s Venus Express probe, which is located much closer to the sun than Earth, experienced high doses of radiation from the recent solar storm, and on Tuesday (March 6) at 8:40 p.m. EST (0140 GMT March 7), spacecraft operators reported that Venus Express’ onboard startracker cameras had become blinded. According to Octavio Camino, the Venus Express spacecraft operation manager at ESA’s European Space Operations Center in Darmstadt, Germany after being bombarded by solar radiation Tuesday, the cameras were unable to pick up any stars.
The European Space Agency’s new Vega rocket, which is designed to launch small satellites, blasted off from the Guiana Space Center in Kourou, French Guiana, on the northern Atlantic coast of South America on February 13 and reached orbit minutes later. Liftoff occurred at 5 a.m. ET (1000 GMT). ESA spent 700 million Euros (about $930 million) and nearly nine years developing the four-stage Vega rocket and plans to spend another 300 million Euros (about $399 million) on the booster’s first five flights. The new booster is designed to serve as a launcher for small payloads to complement Europe’s heavy-lift Ariane 5 rockets and the medium-class Russian Soyuz rockets that lift off from the Guiana Space Center.
New images from the Planck mission show previously undiscovered islands of star formation and a mysterious haze of microwave emissions in our Milky Way galaxy. The views give scientists new treasures to mine and take them closer to understanding the secrets of our galaxy. Planck is a European Space Agency mission with significant NASA participation. The new images show the entire sky, dominated by the murky band of our Milky Way galaxy. One of them shows the unexplained haze of microwave light previously hinted at in measurements by NASA’s Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP).
Accroding to researchers the European Space Agency’s Mars Express spacecraft detected sediments on Mars’ northern plains that are reminiscent of an ocean floor, in a region that has also previously been identified as the site of ancient Martian shorelines. Mars Express uses a radar instrument, called MARSIS, to probe beneath the Martian surface and search for liquid and soliMARSISd water in the upper portions of the planet’s crust. The researchers analyzed more than two years of MARSIS data and found that the northern plains of Mars are covered in low-density material that suggests the region may have been an ancient Martian ocean.
