The American engineers developed ion lithium micro batteries, which on power and speeds of charging can be compared to the best super condensers (ionistor) and keep the high capacity of chemical power supplies. Microbatteries have difficult three-dimensional structure. The main anode and the cathode connect like two microscopic combs on a glass substrate. Thus “teeths” of these “combs”, have regular porous structure. The anode is created from a tin and nickel alloy, and the cathode represents manganese salt of lithium. The difficult microstructure allows reactions to surfaces of micro batteries to pass very quickly. At the expense of it the highest capacity and big current is reached in 2000 times more, than at other chemical batteries.
The researchers discovered that a simple nanowire crystal can concentrate the intensity of the sunlight. This discovery means that the limit of solar cell efficiency can be increased. The discovery will help to lead new types of high-efficiency solar cells, also, will be used in the quantum computers and electronics. The crystals of nanowires have cylindrical structure, which diameter is approximately 10,000 part of a human hair. For this discovery the researchers involved a few years, and during the research, they discovered that there are rays of sun in the concentrate of nanowires, which have small area in the crystal. The concentrated sunlight yields a high conversion efficiency, when it converted into electricity. While the nanowires, which based on solar cells, can rise limit of solar cells efficiency, the single nanowire can concentrate sunlight up to 15 times. This discovery will have an important impact on the future’s solar cell technology development.
Researchers at the Rice University created a battery that is six times thinner than a bacterium. The nano battery is hundreds of times thinner than a human hair and more than 60,000 times smaller than a AAA battery.
