NASA Awards Its Highest Honor to Armenian Astronomer Yervant Terzian

NASA has announced that it will award the Distinguished Public Service Medal, its highest honor, to astronomer Yervant Terzian, the Tisch Distinguished Professor Emeritus. Professor Terzian, is one of the prominent modern astronomers, known in the fields of physics of the interstellar medium, planetary nebulae, galaxies, radio astronomy, and others. He is one of the ArAS Co-Presidents and the Chairman of the Research Council of ANSEF.

When Most Ambitious and Complex James Webb Telescope Will Launch?

NASA has determined a new launch date for James Webb Telescope; March 30, 2021. The agency previously had estimated an earlier launch date. “Webb should continue based on its extraordinary scientific potential and critical role in maintaining U.S. leadership in astronomy and astrophysics,” said Tom Young, the chair of the review board. “Ensuring every element of Webb functions properly before it gets to space is critical to its success.”
