Sea Level Rise Accelerating

Scientists indicate that sea level rise is accelerating, in accordance with a new study based on NASA data. As seas warm and ice melts, Earth ocean’s have risen steadily. This acceleration is driven mainly by increased melting in Greenland and Antarctica that could double the total sea level rise projected by 2100 according to lead author Steve Nerem. Nerem is a professor of Aerospace Engineering Sciences at the University of Colorado Boulder, a fellow at Colorado’s Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES), and a member of NASA’s Sea Level Change team.

US Confirms NASA Supersonic Aircraft

US President Donald Trump announced in his 2019 budget plans to develop the new experimental supersonic aircraft.
The Supersonic aircraft is aimed at making “flight greener, safer and quieter; all while developing aircraft that travel faster, and building an aviation system that operates more efficiently,” said NASA Administrator Charles Bolden. NASA is calling its quieter sonic boom design “low boom” technology.

Crater Tadpoles on Mars

NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) demonstrates an impact crater tadpole because of the valley that was carved by water that used to fill it. It is often difficult to differentiate between inlet and outlet channels, but water always flows downhill. In this particular occasion, scientist can deduce that water is flowing outward because they have the necessary terrain-height information.

The Mystery of Bright Lights on Dwarf Planet Ceres

Bright Lights on Dwarf Planet Ceres, pictured by NASA’s Dawn space probe. Ceres is the largest object in the asteroid belt, which lies between Mars and Jupiter. The diameter of dwarf planet Ceres is about 950 kilometers. Images taken nearly 46,000 kilometres from Ceres show that a bright spot on the planet, which scientists discovered previously, appears next to another slightly darker spot, NASA said in a news release. Scientists expect to receive better views of the mystery lights as the spacecraft closes in and spirals nearer the dwarf planet Ceres on March 6.

Sunflower-shaped spacecraft help to find alien planets

NASA reveals Sunflower-shaped spacecraft which will help to find alien planets. Scientists believe that with the use of this technology, researchers could take direct images of other planets with alien life.
The Sunflower-shaped spacecraft is also unique in that, unlike most space-based instruments, it’s one part of a two-spacecraft observation system. “We can use a pre-existing space telescope to take the pictures,” explains astronomers. The Sunflower-shaped spacecraft will allow it to move around in order to block the light from different stars. NASA’s engineers are optimistic that refining their technology could be the key to major exoplanet discoveries in the future.

NASA celebrates the 55 year anniversary

NASA celebrates the 55 year anniversary, considering that in space exploration is taken giant stride. NASA is promising myriads of new achievements and opening in cooperation with foreign partners. Activity of those who participates in development of near-earth space, inspires the next generation not only researchers, but also scientists, engineers, experts in the field of medicine. Birthday of NASA is considered on July 29, 1958 when President Dwight Eisenhower signed the law on creation of specialized institution adopted by the Congress of the USA for space exploration. Originally in NASA there were only four laboratories and about 80 employees among whom there was a founder of rockets Werner von Brown. Now in structure of NASA more than 18 thousand people work, the budgetary inquiry of the organization for 2014 fiscal year is equal to 17,7 billion dollars. The period occupation by science during construction works on the International space station /ISS / is passed.

One of the biggest iceberg of Antarctic Glacier

From a glacier on the Antarctic island Pine Island broke away the huge iceberg. Scientists waited for this event nearly two years. Scientists found a growing crack in a glacier in October 2011, and since then waited when the huge plateau completely will separate from a glacier and will be able to go to swimming on the ocean. On Monday the satellite from Germany TerraSAR-X saw that the crack reached from one edge of a glacier another. The German satellite is armed with radar with help of which can scan a surface even now when in Antarctic polar night. Scientists estimate the area of the broken-away iceberg approximately at 720 square kilometers. The biggest iceberg was a forward edge of ice shelf quickly slipping in the ocean. Huge icebergs break away from ice shelf of Antarctica of times in 6-10 years.

NASA rockets were launched for research of electric whirlwinds in Earth upper atmosphere

From east coast of Virginia on July 4 were launched two small NASA rockets, directed on an orbit for research of electric whirlwinds in Earth upper atmosphere. Two small NASA rockets started within 15 seconds from the NASA spaceport on the State of Virginia. The mission is to investigate global electric whirlwinds in Earth ionosphere with help of the devices installed on Black Brant V and Terrier-Improved Orion rockets probes. By the words of representatives of NASA they prepared Black Brant V and Terrier-Improved Orion start for show of fireworks in honor of the Independence Day. Start of NASA rockets On the Fourth of July were part of mission of Daytime Dynamo, the joint project with Japanese agency of space researches to study movement of electric whirlwinds in Earth ionosphere at distance between 30 and 600 miles (48 and 965 kilometers) over a surface.
